Land Use Tool

The Building tool shortcuts to all of the Land Use and Lot/Parcel Usages in your project template.

Land Use type usages are meant to model allowable built form across multiple lots.

Land Use usages are meant to represent the large-scale implications of zoning and other planning overlays. (Think a land use map)

As opposed to Lot/Parcel usages, which represent the outcomes of specific planning controls on a particular parcel.

Drawing Methods

Giraffe offers 3 methods of generating building geometry:

• Rectangle: Start with a 90° rectangular shape. Great for regularly shaped geometry.
• Spine: Start with a single line. Great for long buildings or L- and U-shaped geometry.
• Irregular Shapes: Start with existing geometry and edit using the standard toolset, or start with a generic polygon and apply a usage later.

Click the tool in the draw palette, then select the Usage you would like to apply.

Click once to initiate the shape and a second time to define the width. Pull to specify the length. Click to end tool command.
