Want to bring in the existing 3D Buildings or geospatial vector data from the map to inform your design? This is the guide for you!

Query Data

Right click on any map feature and mouse over it from the pop up list. You can review any data attached to that shape in the left-hand tool palette.

The pop up will show each element in the area of the click.

An option to copy the Lat, Lon from the point of right click is offered

Lastly, Open google street view in a new tab on click

Select the one you wish to query.

A report of the values from the selection will also appear in the left hand panel.

Data fields vary based on the dataset selected.

Right-Click Actions

The pop up will show each element in the area of the click.

Select the one you wish to query.

Additional Options will appear on click:

  1. Set Project Boundary (The Project Boundary
  2. Create: add a geometry based on the element to the current project
  3. Merge: with Giraffe Features selected, merges the element into the selected shape

Create a new project from the query selection.

  1. Right click on a map element and click 'Set' on the contextual menu.
  2. You can merge multiple geometries into one boundary by right clicking on them and clicking 'Merge' on the contextual menu.
  3. Finish or save

Click Done to finish editing

Or Click Save project as to create a new project.

Complicated or overlapping map features can be merged for better performance.

Follow the steps above. With the first section still selected, right click on an adjacent piece of geometry. You will now have the option to “Merge.”

Quickly Create Context

After geometry exists on the map:

Select existing geometry on the map. (Shift + click to select multiple features at the same time)

Select a Usage from the list in the left-hand properties palette.

Suggested Usages:

If you want to exclude geometry from calculations, use the “Context” usage.

if you want to include it in calculations, use any appropriate usage that describes the type of feature (IE Residential for an apartment tower, or Industrial for an agricultural building)
