Units are used as a standard for measurement of the same kind of quantity (think Unit of Measurement or UOM).
Giraffe comes pre-loaded with the following Units:
<aside> 👉 Your project will pre-load the imperial or metric units based on your location.

<aside> 💡 The Unitless unit is great for calculations like ratios or reporting metrics like IRR that do not necessarily have a unit of measure.

You can also create your own units to measure quantities relevant to your firm, like Time denominations.

The Units in Analytics are independent from the project units set in Project Settings. This allows you to display both metric and imperial calculations in your analytics report if desired.

Click “new unit”
Type anything into the “Units” box. If it does not exist in the project yet, you’ll get a prompt to create the unit. Click the “create’ button.
If you would like to add a custom abbreviation and control subtotaling, edit the unit in the Unit Configuration
The Unit editor will appear.
Enter display name. This is how it will display in the Measures editor selection list
Enter the abbreviation. This is how it will appear in the analytics report
Toggle whether it can be subtotaled.

Subtotaling means when you toggle subtotals on in Categories, this unit will be subtotaled.

Toggle whether is should be hidden from the Measures editor.

You might want a unit hidden if it is metric, but your project is imperial, for instance

Click ‘create unit’
Once a unit is created, it can be added to any measure from the drop down in the Measure Builder
The abbreviation displays in the report palette

Units are saved and imported with Templates and when you Import Analytics from another project.
</aside>
Once a Unit is created, you can edit it from Analytics Settings.
Click the gear icon in the titlebar of the Analytics app
